Critic Review: "Talk about the dictionary definition of zesty. An aromatic set featuring pear tarts, thyme and wet concrete meld into flavors like lime zest, grapefruit and a touch of apple cider vinegar. Prepare to pucker, for this is a light-bodied bolt of lightning-like acidity. — Michael Alberty (Wine Enthusiast)
Wine Folly: Pg. 97 Chardonnay -- I 100% tasted pear notes shown in the Additional Tasting Notes chart as the first flavor. I tasted hints of apple and smoke as the flavor progressed. Also, I could taste a bit of a toast or bread aftertaste. Pg. 96 Chardonnay, shows flavors like butter and vanilla, which I did not get tastes of. As for aromas, at first sniff, I got notes of pear, which is mentioned. After a couple more sniffs, I started to sense an oak aroma, which was not listed.
My Review: Overall, I found this Chardonnay to be a fairly smooth drink. It's a little more on the acidic, bitter side, which in the past I tend to avoid as I enjoy sweeter. However, I enjoyed this glass and found it to be in the middle between sweet and dry. Definitely fruity with a mix of vinegary, bitter flavors. This wouldn't be my first choice for a glass, but it's definitely higher on the list.
I did not drink this with a meal.
